Presentation

The Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Physical Exercise in Health Promotion began its activities in March/2012 and consists of a pioneering initiative of professional master and doctoral courses in the field of Physical Education and Physiotherapy. The Program is offered in face-to-face mode, at the UNOPAR/Piza Unit, in the city of Londrina, Paraná. Currently it is evaluated by CAPES with concept 4.

The master course offers 20 vacancies and the doctoral course 10 vacancies annually for regular students. Registrations for the selection processes are held in October/November and the tests take place in the month of December of each year. The selection process is proof of Knowledge involving issues related to the theme “Physical Exercise in Health Promotion”, Curriculum Vitae Analysis and Oral Evaluation.

Objectives of the Program

To work in the education of the professional already inserted in the labor market directed to physical exercise in the promotion of health, in order to contribute to the acquisition of a higher level of complexity of intervention in his or her routine of service;

To provide opportunities for continuing education with a multidisciplinary vision of action for the creation, mobilization and consolidation of technical and scientific competences focused on the prescription and guidance of physical exercise in the promotion of health in the different cycles of life;

To provide conditions for the development and improvement of methods, techniques, processes and products related to professional performance linked to physical exercise in health promotion.

Target Audience

Graduates in Physical Education, Sport, Physiotherapy, Medicine, Nutrition and related fields.

Concentration Areas

Methods and protocols related to the prescription of physical exersice

Professional intervention and scientific research that can ensure the incorporation and/or development of methods and protocols of validation, prescription and guidance of physical exercise programs related to health promotion in their different dimensions: disease prevention/control and health rehabilitation.

Areas of Practice

  • Preventive dimensions of physical exercise: Approach of methods and protocols related to the practice of physical exercise in young age, adult and elderly associated with biological and behavioral indicators that may affect the prevention and control of chronic non-communicable diseases, setting up as an important contribution in the proposition and development of programs and projects for health promotion;

 

  • Therapeutic dimensions of physical exercise: Approach of methods and protocols related to physical exercise at young age, adult and elderly associated with biological and behavioral indicators that may affect the treatment and rehabilitation of chronic non-communicable diseases, setting up as an important contribution in the proposition and development of programs and projects for health promotion.

The postulant to the title of Master or Professional Doctorate in Physical Exercise in Health Promotion should prepare and present to an Examining Board report of its technical-scientific production, the results of the scientific studies developed with its advisor and the technical product outlined and completed during the course should be included.

The technical product should be linked to the proposition of immediate solution of real problems of the work environment and can be presented in different formats: (a) technical publication in the form of book, e-book, operation manual, practical guide, textbook; (b) application development; (c) electronic media production; (d) software construction; (e) prototyping definition for equipment production; and (f) idealization of technological innovation project.
