Presentation

The Program in Integrated Dental Sciences of UNIC aims to train masters and doctors with a humanistic and social view of the Brazilian reality, with didactic and research experience so that they can be managers and influencers of transformations of health practices. It is intended that the future master will be able to develop the teaching activity, based on scientific and ethical parameters, which contribute to the training of professionals responsible and aware of the need of the Brazilian population. To the future doctor, who is an exponent in scientific research, in the raising of resources to evidence-based development and trainer of human resources. The course emphasizes assignments aimed at conducting dissertations and theses, research activities and publications of scientific and dissemination articles focusing on research projects aimed at the positive transformation of society.

Graduates in Dentistry (Master and PhD) and related fields (Master’s degree).

Concentration Areas

Dentistry

This area of concentration aims at the training of professionals who add to their practical experience a critical, reflective, humanistic and social view of the Brazilian reality mainly related to SUS, enabling them to teaching and research in order to improve these practices. Research is carried out in different dental specialties focusing on those that require direct action on issues involving practical application. The future master/doctor is capable of disseminating concepts based on scientific evidence through the development of dissertation projects aimed at the positive transformation of these practices. The area can be characterized by the commitment to training and training of human resources in strict sense, considering the regional needs and demands, which allows improvements and improvement in the teaching of dentistry and its contextualization in the area of health.

Biosciences

This concentration area aims at the education of professionals who add to their practical experience a multidisciplinary vision between dentistry and other areas of health and biological sciences. Added to this, it allows this professional critical, reflective, humanistic and social analyzes of Brazilian realities mainly related to SUS, enabling him or her to teach and research in order to improve these practices. In this area, studies are carried out integrating Dentistry to other health areas in order to solve and improve, through methodized scientific research, issues that can improve existing practices or implement new practices. The future master is capable of disseminating concepts of the integrated approach of health areas, based on scientific evidence through the development of dissertation projects aimed at the creation and improvement of integrative practices with a multidisciplinary approach. The area can be characterized by the commitment to education and training of human resources in strict sense, considering regional needs and demands, which allows improvements  in teaching and dentistry of its multidisciplinary work within a more comprehensive context in the area of health. This concentration area is contemplated for all health professionals, including dentists.

Dentistry

Research lines:
  • Research Line 1:Physiopathological and therapeutic aspects of orofacial alterations. This research line aims to evaluate the etiological and pathophysiological mechanisms of diseases affecting the stomatognathic system, its effects on general health, in the individual and collective context, involving the different areas of health sciences.

  • Research Line 2:
    Development and Evaluation of Drugs, Techniques and Innovations in the Health Area. 
    This research line aims to develop and evaluate procedures, materials, drugs, techniques and innovations aiming to propose therapies with applicability in human health and clinical practice.
